Newcastle Sleep Dental is one of only a small number of dental practices in New South Wales that routinely offers intravenous sedation (IV Sedation) within our own rooms. We are also one of very few facilities in the state to use a specialist medical anaesthetist — rather than a dentist — to administer and monitor all sedation.

While dentists are legally permitted to administer sedation, we firmly believe your dentist’s full attention should be devoted entirely to your dental care. Your comfort, safety, and sedation are managed exclusively by our specialist anaesthetist and registered nurse.

We have helped thousands of anxious patients — adults and teenagers alike — access dental treatment they never thought possible. You are in expert, compassionate hands.

What to Expect

From your very first phone call, our team is on hand to put you at ease. We understand that reaching out takes courage, and we treat every patient with patience, sensitivity, and respect — regardless of how long it has been since your last dental visit.

At your appointment, a fine intravenous line is gently placed in your arm or hand. Sedative medication is administered gradually, inducing a deeply relaxed and comfortable state. You may drift in and out of light sleep, but you will be continuously monitored throughout. Most patients wake feeling calm and refreshed, with little or no memory of the procedure.

We have been caring for anxious dental patients — including nervous teenagers — for over 15 years.
